CIW (Certified Internet Webmaster) is a recognized certification which established that the holder has attained a level of knowledge as a web developer and web master. In the past a webmaster was some one who could do it, but as Internet needs and technology became more sophisticated an Internet, vendor-neutral certification was designed to help career changers enter the IT industry, as well as to let experienced and vendor-certified professionals build on their existing IT skills.
All CIW certifications require the Foundations exam. Once completed, the CIW certification is earned.
CIW is offered for three disciplines - Designer, Enterprise Developer and Administrator - and one cross-functional area - Web Site Manager, which combines the other three disciplines, to allow learners to focus on pursuing personal interests and talents.
CIW is the largest Internet job-role certification. It has continued to gain ground and is respected as a much-needed barometer for understanding the skills the certification holder has.
